The model 552's build quality and materials used are better than the Marlins but not by much. Both have alloy receivers and trigger guards when the model 550-1's are steel. All three have decent accuracy with an edge going to the 552 (BDL version) because of better sights and a truer barrel.

I have both a 552 speedmaster and a 10-22. Stock the remington is far superior in quility and in shooting reliability. If you are going to custimize it then the 10-22 is the one to use.
