Mail is literally the most garbage app that’s native to iOS. Since the dawn of the iPod touch, Mail has never worked properly. Even with the correct settings, anytime you use a third party email that is not iCloud email, it has to fetch your mail from their service. Generally all you can do is manually enter the app and it’ll show up.
